Drone Engineering
Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) are commonly called Drones. Drone Engineering represents a sector of aviation that is experiencing exponential growth. Participants in the Future Kings Drone Engineering program learn about design, construction, application, operation and system integration for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Participants also learn about the laws, regulations, and policies that govern the legal operation of Drones. Students gain hands-on experience in designing, constructing and operating a Drone for a specific application with consideration of payload types, communication and control systems.
The Future Kings Drone Engineering program includes hands-on skills to help students achieve success in various UAS career paths as versatile engineers and technicians. Program graduates are prepared to obtain positions that require UAS design, manufacturing, application and operations knowledge and skills that are consistent with today’s industry trends.
Through introduction to both drone laws and remote pilot courses, students will learn about the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s new part 107 regulation, which will help prepare them for the required aeronautical knowledge test. At the end of this program, students will have a strong foundation in UAS design, construction, application and operation.

The Drone Engineering Program of Future Kings relies on technical support and direction from practicing engineering professionals. The program is designed to prepare participants for engineering opportunities in the Unmanned Aerial Systems field by providing extensive hands-on practical experiences.
Program participants receive hands-on experience with computer-aided-design (CAD) software and devices used in computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM). They begin by learning to setup a 3-D printer and then output their designs. They later learn to develop ideas for Drones and Drone parts and use CAD software to design those products. This process involves collaboration, mathematics, and more.
Students are introduced to CAD software through TinkerCAD. After the introduction, students advance to using professional products from AutoDesk such as AutoCAD. Program participants are provided the opportunity to earn the Autodesk Certified Professional (Computer aided design) certification.
Program Goals
- To provide students with the skills necessary to be eligible for entry level jobs at Drone Engineering firms.
- To help students hone their collaborative and mathematics skills.
- To provide a competitive advantage to our students by providing them with college level skills and making them more attractive when applying to schools.
- To have students obtain Autodesk Certified Professional (Computer Aided Design) certifications which increases employment opportunities.
